It is a shame. The Mobikes are just so heavy that they are impractical for too many who regularly ride a bike.A shame really because they look good and are innovative but way, way too heavy for even a fittish regular cyclist. But it also shows how the local terrain is not that suitable for cycling. The inclines locally can be really deceptive. That's why I feel that some of the cycle routes are a rather expensive folly. If you are local and know your way about then it is quite possible to avoid a lot of the more taxing routes and arrive without being ker-nackerooed and stinking of sweat. But most of these routes are dappled with potholes, making them lethal in the dark and wet weather.I think it would have been far more prudent and of real benefit to local cyclists if the money being lavished on Boston Manor Road on a route to nowhere, was spent of decent maintenance of side street routes. But equally hire bikes that are more suitable for the user and the envisions. The Bromptons are light enough and versatile enough to be more use to a wider range of occasional cyclists.
