Top Star Rating to Hounslow Homes

Well done to Hounslow Homes for being given the top rating by the Audit Commission. This ranks them as one of the top arms length management companies in the country.Maureen Corcoran of the Audit Commission said 'Homes are well managed and maintained and vulnerable people only wait a short time for adaptation works'I'm sure most reasonable people will recognise that this is a really positive thing and that the Audit Commission is apolitical - it recently took nearby Ealing Council to court to have its rating reduced. Of course any organisation handling so many properties cannot always get it right but measured against their peers they are clearly doing a great job.

JimYes in essence what your saying is true. But as someone who works in housing there are a lot of social housing - there are an awful lot of social housing providers who put a lot of money to provide a poor service to their tenants. HH got excellent prospects of improvement because of the strength in it's forward planning and on the improvement in the recent inspection compared with the previous inspection.

Janet:  But isn't that how things should be?If Management and staff are properly trained and organised...and they are given all that money to do a job..we should expect and get top zippy performances...and hear that the money has been well spent.Fine applaud it....maybe its an improvement on what has happened before..but why did we have to tolerate what happened before. Are some people finally getting their act together?Finally...what does "Excellent prospects of improvement" mean???  Thanks for your message nonetheless.Yes..on the face of it..these new improvements do look good..

I would like to add my congratulations to Hounslow Homes on getting not only a 3 Star Rating but also has, in the Audit Commission's opinion, Excellent Prospects of improvement.Having looked at the report in some detail it was a tough inspection and I feel confident that the inspectors made a  reflective, valued but much deserved judgement of the sevice given to Hounslow's Tenants/Residents by Hounslow Homes. Further more if you look around the council properties and talk to residents on Hounslow's Estates you have to admit the improvements are aastounding.

Yes, well done to Hounslow Homes on achieving a two star rating. But what does a rating mean at this stage? A low rating would mean that Hounslow Homes would have great difficulty securing sufficient resources to fund the government’s decent homes standard. Consequently, a higher rating means that resources are easier to aquire. Let us not forget that the game has only just started and that the goal is some way off. The final result will be the time to look back and see how successful, or otherwise, Hounslow Homes were in delivering the government’s decent home standard.

AlanHounslow Homes is a totally non-political organisation, as you keep telling us, so why would anybody want to knock it for political reasons?While you're online though there are some questions for you on another thread.  Will they get an answer or is it to be the guilty silence again á la Ann Kenn's expenses?

It is good to see them succeeding. Well done Hounslow Homes, their staff and all of the residents organisation that are an essential part of making their communities work, especially on the estates. Many will of course knock Hounslow Homes for their own political reasons.
