Polling Station

Just been to vote - hardly a rush on - however there is a tarmac ramp at the entrance for disabled access. Are Hounslow completely mad? Why haven't they got wooden, movable ramps that can be used over again? Assume that this tarmac will have to be dug up and then disposed of - what a waste of money, says it all really.

Indeed a rotten regime. In a way it's a pity Ruth went on to higher office as she brought some class to the party when she was in Lampton Palace.

Yes and publish your manifesto a day or two before kick off so most people won't get a chance to read it. Then sit back and hope the walking brain dead turn up and vote as usual, or the way there Grand Daddy did.The worst thing is the day after an election fought like is.This  shower of self serving egotistic arsholes are back. In. Only this time they can say' we can do anything we like' we can walk on water' .When will people learn change is good

Personally Keith I would have opted for something a lot more powerful.This election has a most peculiar feel to it.  Usually those of us who take an interest would be watching to see how many seats which party has won, and what the balance between them is to be.  This time it's about which Labour candidates are elected and how that plays out when it comes to electing a leader for the next four years.  Any surplus tarmac could hopefully then be used for burying the memory of the most rotten regime in living memory.

Filling some of the growing number of potholes in the road would have been a much better use of tarmac. Ditto the daft carving up of BMR to suit the relatively few cyclists who will use it. A laxative is needed at Lampton.

Tbh tellers at polling stations are to some extent a thing of the past.  It is much easier just to go out from the off and knock everybody up and remind them of the poll (yes it annoys some people who have already voted, but if they have already voted who cares if they are annoyed?  Cynical but true).If all is quiet then this is likely to work in favour of the incumbents.  It is up to the challengers to turn the tables and if they are not out there in numbers, banging on doors, then they won't be causing any upsets.

No tellers at polling stations, no loudspeakers going round trying to get the vote out - no last minute reminders - no sod-all. Are they trying to send everybody to sleep? They don't even know how to run an election properly.If they want to get people engaged they sure have a funny way of doing it.

I've been receiving "Don't Forget to Vote" cards from Labour in Syon ward all morning.  I haven't yet had one which says "...or you'll get your windows smashed in" - possibly that one comes later, or maybe that's just Isleworth ward?What was particularly interesting though was the use of the old "It's a Two-Horse Race" canard, suggesting that if I don't vote Labour I will get the Conservatives.  Nonsense of course, Syon is a one-horse race and Labour will win it at a canter.  But what a sorry pass we have come to when the opposition is so poor that the incumbent candidates have to talk it up just to get voters to bother turning out at all!
