Duke of Northumberland's planning application & allotments

As many people will know the Northumberland Estate are appealing against the decision last year to turn down their application to build over 100 dwellings on the allotments site. The planning inquiry is due to be held in October and it would be amazing if we could get as many signatures as possible on this petition. It's a very clever way of trying to persuade people that no-one is really interested so why not just do away with it and let something be built on. It really will be a tragedy if this area is built on - anyone would think the Duke is hard up for a couple of bob.

Managed decline - just like we have had with so many things in the hope that we will only remember them as not working or being managed well.  This includes British Rail.

That's what you call managed decline - some of the allotments aren't used and the estate won't let them because they want the tenants to go.
