Correct Jim, you can see it from the bridge over the weir as you walk to the lock, and from Dock Road. Just for accuracy, it isn't a canal basin, it's off the fully tidal river Brent, left as the overflow route when canalisation and lock building was undertaken. It's the same situation as with the Island development site above the guaging locks, to the north of the High St. The river originally ran, as it still does, alongside the Butts and the Weir, with the island formed when the canal channel was cut straight across the curve. Two weirs allow the river flow to bypass the lock to rejoin the mainstream below.
