Peter Carey

Just seen that Peter Carey who had been a councillor in Hounslow for many, many years has died. I knew Peter pretty well, and he was one of the 'old school' and always a gentleman, condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.

Yes, I can only agree with what all other posters have said, I always found Peter to be a gentleman and his contributions to committee/forum discussions were always accurate, relevant and fair.My condolences to his family and friends.

I was very sad to hear this news.  He was indeed always a gentleman.  Those who had the pleasure of serving with him on area committees/forums would also agree that he possessed a quick wit, a sharp intellect and a sound sense of justice.  His party piece was always to steer discussions which had strayed into pretentiousness and waffle back to the great simplicites around the issue in hand, usually in the most humorous and entertaining way.On a personal level I will always be grateful that he stood by me on a particular issue when an officer had exceeded his brief, this being pre-coalition and a time when the easier option would have been not to have done so.I too would like to express my sincere condolences to his family, friends and all his loved ones.

I didn't know Peter well, and his health has been fragile ever since I was elected. Nevertheless it was apparent that he was in politics for the right reasons and always courteous in my dealings with him. He also clearly had a sharp mind and a sardonic sense of humour. A loss to the community, as well, of course, to his family and friends.
