Parking ticket
The other week my son's car ground to a halt right at the junction of Twickenham Rd. at Busch Corner, he managed to move it on to the pavement to keep the junction clear while he waited for the RAC to arrive, left a note in the windscreen to explain why the car was there, and came home. The RAC took an hour or so and met my son on site - only for him to find that in the meantime he'd got a parking ticket. Naturally he appealed this decision and also sent the RAC report, only to find that Hounslow are having none of it, saying that cars on the pavement impede pedestrians and baby buggies. The pavement at this location is actually quite wide, so that's a load of tripe. So the lesson here is if you should breakdown think about leaving your car where it is to completely block a lane of traffic rather than do anything remotely responsible. So off we go - my son has to wait 28 days for a Notice to Owner to be sent to him if he doesn't pay the penalty charge, which of course will go up at this point - then and only then can he start the challenge to the parking tribunal service.
