Fixed Penalty Notices issued..............

In 2017 Hounslow Highways dealt with some 20,500 street cleansing enquiries logged, a sizeable majority for fly-tipping.Investigations were carried out in 3,689 instances to ascertain the culprits resulting in 844 FPNs.up to a maximum of £400 each. Additional more serious cases were referred to Magistrates Courts.What isn't clear is just how many of those FPNs were actually paid..........

I have family members nearby with a car, and they often do dump runs.  I try to work round that.  But thanks for the advice, and kind words.

It makes it all the more important to be part of a community.  Ironically not having a car can sometimes help here because when walking down the street you get a better chance to talk to neighbours!Try sharing a collection - whether it is collected by the Council or taken by a neighbour to the waste and recycling centre.  I'm sure that you can find a way to reciprocate the help.

Thats an interesting comment about people reducing their reliance on the car.  I no longer have a car, and one of the few 'benefits' to the car is being able to get rid of rubbish.  Its an expensive nightmare now trying to get rid of old or surplus stuff.

You make it sound as if LBH is the only place with this problem but it isn't.  As people reduce their reliance on the car it becomes less easy for them.  Instead of just cutting grants to Councils it would be helpful if the Government made their legislation clear and obvious to everyone so that the Councils didn't have to pick up the cost and residents didn't have to put up with the situation.https://www.mrw.co.uk/latest/public-confusion-over-duty-of-care-as-fly-tipping-costs-manchester-55m/10034962.article

Surely it is often more constructive and successful and cost-effective to warn and inform those who are not complying with legislation as to their misdemeanors and how anti-social it is?Nudging a neighbour and sharing/offering bin space or a trip to the waste and recycling centre or recycling info in times of stress and excess might be better than gritting your teeth as you walk over their waste.

Do they have employees nowadays?  Government policy is to outsource everything in order to save money.  Only it often doesn't and there have to be bail-outs.

I FINALLY - after weeks and weeks -  received some figures after my FOI request for the first Qtr of 2018  which I am now analysing.  I may share them with the Cabinet member because he clearly doesn't have a clue.
