"Safer Neighbourhood Scheme" launch ( Spring Grove & Osterley)

The Police are holding a meeting at Isleworth School at 7pm this eveningto meet residents and explain the newly launched Scheme..in this WARD.The Safer Neighbourhood Scheme will..one day..cover all 21 Wards in the Borough. They have proved benefitial in Cranford, Hounslow West, and parts of Heston.

I think a couple of bobbies walking around is such a reassuring sight. I wouldn't be averse to them having a dog also in some cases in the worst areas.I can't understand how they have been taken off the streets. Surely they should be working in conjunction with police in cars.I think it is one of the most damning indictments of our faltering society that some elderly folk are living on estates where they are terrified of going out because of thuggery and partly because there are no foot patrols about.If we can't give them a right to a life outside their homes, we should at least re house them in better surroundings.

I feel the same way as you Keith,it seems the genuine Police Officers are forbidden to walk the streets these days and the Community Officers are left to do the old fashioned beat even with their limited powers of arrest and search etc.Is it a reflection of our times that you never see either a true Police Officer or a Community Officer walking the beat on their own and only in pairs? perhaps its for their own safety or some human rights evidence initutive to protect the criminal?

2 bobbies eh?Good to see them engaged in vital police work. Did you actually see them with your own eyes?What do they look like outside of a police car?Are they still wearing those funny hats? I'ts been that long since I actually saw one walking around I'm getting all watery eyed and nostalgic for the old days...the days when bobbies actually did the foot patrols and we didn't rely on cameras.Strange how the boom in the use of cctv has gone hand in hand with a massive increase in crime over the last decade. The camera may not lie, but me thinks those who insist on their use might just be telling porkies about how effective they are.
