Ruth Cadbury Calls For Support For Clean Air Parents' Network

Good to read on ChswickW4 that Ruth is making a stand on this. I wonder if she will also look into the high pollution levels around the schools in Twickenham Road, South Street and Worple Road which are caused by the traffic chaos due to the ridiculous closure of Church Street by Cllr Lambert despite the majority vote of residents and parents to keep it open to ease the pollution around the schools.  Not to mention the additional pollution caused by all the rat runs since Church Street was closed.

As pollution in Hounslow Borough  gets worse and worse it is astounding that the lead member can't answer simple questions on the monitoring.  Our children are choking because of this Council's failure to address the obvious problems.  To reiterate."This Council should be measuring outside all the schools mentioned. Only Busch Cnr (Green School) is  shown and many now avoid that area because of the traffic  chaos and run up Worton Road, Bridge Road or St Johns or Linkfield instead.Any readings there?? Thought not."Why let facts get in the way of political posturing hey?

It is astounding that a Lead Member or Cabinet member can miss the point entirely. The point being, as repeatedly explained, that the closure of Church Street has caused rat runs down the streets I mentioned, where pollution has increased radically because traffic has increased. Not rocket science - just fact. It is pointless referring us to same old, same old measuring points and showing 2017 figures when we are towards the end of 2018 and where the hot spots are not being measured. This Council should be measuring outside all the schools mentioned. Only Busch Cnr (Green School) is  shown and many now avoid that area because of the traffic  chaos and run up Worton Road, Bridge Road or St Johns or Linkfield instead.Any readings there?? Thought not.Interesting that pollution is taken at Mogden Gates which is also a 'stay clear from' place due to the stench of raw human excrement but no mention is made of the increased H2S readings which is but one compound of the stench cocktail which comes from human excrement.The fact is - if it is diesel pollution,  raw sewage pollution or simple household waste pollution through fly-tipping and uncleared public bins, Hounslow Council has failed to address the issues but the diesel pollution is at its worst since the stupid undemocratic closure of Church Street  against the will of the people.Our children are suffering and it gets worse. The long term effects are unimaginable as this Council does nothing to rectify all the problems.

There is no substantive evidence that pollution in South Street, St Margaret’s Road, Worple Road, Worton Road, Bridge Road, Linkfield Road, st Johns Road, Twickenham Road, Mogden Lane, Whitton Road, to name a few, has reduced since the traffic chaos and rat running intensified after the closure of Church Street.

Carry on in your make believe world that closing church street improved the lives of anyone other than a few rich folk. Everyone, except a few despots who don’t respect democracy, acknowledge that it was a very, very stupid plan and to implement it was even more stupid. Strange that no pollution figures are available for the streets mentioned. All unsubstantiated nonsense as usual from this Council. The Rotten Borough rules supreme in environmental chaos following a succession of disasters in environment directors, assistant directors, dept heads and cabinet lead members too inefficient to hold the officers accountable.

Oh dear. More nonsense. The FACT is that residents voted overwhelmingly to  keep Church Street open but some councillors ignored the Democratic process and stabbed the vast majority in the back to kowtow to a handful of very wealthy residents and business people. Why did they do that?There is no substantive evidence that pollution in South Street, St Margaret’s Road, Worple Road, Worton Road, Bridge Road, Linkfield Road, st Johns Road, Twickenham Road, Mogden Lane, Whitton Road, to name a few, has reduced since the traffic chaos and rat running intensified after the closure of Church Street. It is an environmental disaster area which everyone can see and our children experience it daily. To state otherwise is totally irresponsible and is simply not true. If only people could admit their mistakes and man up to them and try to rectify them instead of making up laughable excuses to try to cover incompetence. It just makes a mockery of what Ruth is trying to achieve.

Pollution is down in those streets since Church Street closed as a result of a free vote of the 12 councillors on the Isleworth and Brentford Area Forum, led by the Isleworth councillors.But we mustn't let facts get in the way.
