Over 1,000 Council Homes to be built in LBH

That sounds a lot of homes but where are they going to be built?   More skyscrapers crammed into Brentford perhaps adding to the current overcrowding of schools, hospitals, GPs etc. and local transport.

House right on the corner of Hospital Rd. and Bath Rd. Hounslow for a starter - has been derelict for years. Also the old Pountney Clinic building almost adjacent to the new Civic Centre. Not to mention the dreadful empty site in the same area, where the houses blew up some years ago - what's happening there? I'll bet if you asked people would be able to give you the information.

It has been made difficult to get rid of "stuff".  Far too much gets thrown away because people do not have the time to sort it out.  This is made even more difficult if you are grieving.  Spring cleaning and de-cluttering is definitely an old habit that is worthwhile!When there are no volunteers to run jumble sales and charity shops and everybody is buying cheap new short-life goods online or from magazine adverts which are difficult to send back or sell - it gets even more difficult.  It is now too easy to buy unnecessary and often unwanted stuff.  Credit has a lot to answer for.

I agree with that. Tell me where there is such a property and I'll follow it up. I'm not an expert on what powers we have.We certainly charge extra council tax on empty properties: one of the councillors from out west got caught up with that last year when he was slow sorting out the property his parents lived in after they passed away.

It would help if Councils were more organised and quicker in putting the Council homes that they own back into use when they are vacated by residents.

I'd really like to see Hounslow council trying to utilise some of the empty properties that there are in the borough before they start building over everything. I thought councils had the power to compulsory purchase properties just left empty?
