Fireworks

So we’ve had 5th November and the weekend prior to that, we now have Diwali. It is past midnight, I am stating work at 4.30am and all we can hear is WW3 going off. Where is any legislation and law enforcement or is it perfectly legal to create this kind of hell??

Adam has again hit the nail on the head - you can make all the wonderful laws you like but where are the people to enforce them? Local authorities, the police in fact every public service has been slashed to pieces, it is pointless waffle trying to persuade the rest of us that the powers that be are actually doing something or even give a toss.

It's annoying, I'm sure, but it's also a couple of nights of the year, let people celebrate."Fireworks must not be let off between 11pm and 7am, except on Chinese New Year, Diwali and New Year's Eve, when the period is extended until 1am, and on Guy Fawkes Night, when the period is extended until midnight."

Whilst I concur with the basic sentiment, in this day and age does anyone really expect either the emergency services or local authorities to deal with things like fireworks being let off ?.I very much doubt the authorities did much about this in the past either, the difference being that there were less people then, fireworks were probably less easily available, and people were more considerate of others.It's like these blanket bans that are in place now about number of dogs being walked by one person, alcohol-free zones and such like, in theory they have merit, in reality they're completely hollow because they can never be enforced rigorously and the authorities just hope that  signage will deter some people.But all the bureaucracy that comes with putting these things in place has to be paid for, and for me I'd rather that expense was used for other things.

There are not enough police to enforce the law. Also think of the air pollution caused  by fireworks and bonfires.
