Ever since the day that Vanessa made her historic gaffe both she and her colleagues have absented themselves from this forum. During that time Vanessa has appeared over at W4, whilst Alan has posted on the Worton residents' site (www.worton-estate.org.uk - well worth a visit!), so we know they are both still alive.Whilst Vanessa's reasons for lying low will be obvious to everybody, Alan's refusal to answer questions will leave a lot of people wondering whether her dishonesty was sanctioned or even encouraged by the local Labour Party hierarchy itself. If it was, of course, it would explain why Alan and his colleagues are making no effort to distance themselves from her actions, and why nobody seems to be asking her to step down. If others are culpable in her deception, they will quite rightly be concerned that she has it within her power to take them down with her.Instead, they will be hoping (probably correctly) that the local press will lack the courage to take up the issue and (definitely incorrectly) that if they lie low long enough the issue will go away of its own accord.
