Deadmens graves?

Was having a look at an ordanance survey map of gunnersbury,kew and brentford from 1894 today and saw a plot of land marked "deadmens graves"! Its hard to pinpoint the precise location as lots of todays rds obviously dont appear on an old map like this,but im guessing it was somewhere in the present Carville hall area.Anyone got any info on this? Plague pits perhaps? Cheers,Bill.

What nonsense we talk ? All those bodies transported from the plague were now in places renamed such as Mortlake , and Gravesend, and im sure there must be many others.

As I understand it there is a question mark over many alleged plague burial sites, because sufferers were in many cases interned and to transport their bodies any distance from the hospitals (where they would have died) to the pits would have substantially increased the risk of spreading the disease. Just a bit of useless information.PS  Jim - to my knowledge nobody ever died of plaque, but thanks anyway for reminding me about that overdue dentist's appointment. :o)

Bill:Yes I've definately read about the Plaque burial sites being at Carville Hall Park..the partb on the south of the Great West Road beteen Lionel Road and Claysponds Lane.In all my years I have never been in that part of the Park..although I have played in hundreds of football matches over the years on the north side.The Ealing Forum recently dicussed this subject..you may wish to do a Forum search there. I've just dug out the same 1895 map that you may have..and I'm intrigued by the Fish Ponds!! Could they have trickled down..towards Griffin Park!!?
