In spite of all the arguments and complicated financing schemes put forward as reasons for not doing much at all - we are in a mess where housing is concerned - why aren't councils using modern pre-fabricated, quick building methods? In a crisis nothing should be ruled out - in today's paper Cardiff City council are going to use shipping containers to try and help with rough sleepers - some of these schemes, when done properly, are so much better than some of the 'temporary housing' offered, that only serves to keep private landlords in profit for sub standard accomodation, and sucks so much from the public purse in housing benefit. Surely brownfield sites can be found to utilise these alternative ways of building homes? Someone needs to do some thinking outside the box, I won't hold mt breath for that to happen in Hounslow.
