Kew Bridge station, step-free?
So. The projected plan is to make Kew Bridge station step free, at least the East bound platform initially. Westbound will be more problematic. I am curoius as to what circuitous route we wheelchair users will have to take?Even if the platform becomes accessible, the trains will not be unless the platforms are raised as the gradient from platform to train will exceed 8º, the maximum slope wheelchairs and mobility scooters can safely operate at. What is more, even if a wheelchair user risked that slope, it is unlikely the user would manage enough impetus or acceleration to get from the platform to the train safely unaided and safely. I'd be rally interested in the plans for this as currently I have to travel to Richmond, from Green Dragon Lane to get to London, often being unable to get on the bus due to pushchairs and buggies being on board already, and the users being unwilling, in most instances, to move so IO can get on. Also some bus drivers completely ignore me despite having a mobility scooter pass showing it is allowed on buses. With no plans for Gunnersbury underground to be upgraded this is my only fast route into London, as a bus to Hammersmith takes, on average, 30 minutes, to access the underground, and the Piccadilly line is also not accessible at Hammersmith despite TfL claiming otherwise!
