Should I Move to a Brentford Tower Block? (URGENT)

Er...I'm loking for a home exchange and someone in one of the blocks overlooking the river has contacted me. What sort of a reputation do they have these days? Has 'Right to Buy' turned the blocks into a pleasant, quiet place to live? Or are there still major social problems with crack, smack, burglaries, blaring music, car theft, etc., etc., etc.?  That's to say, if I go for the swap, will I be making the biggest mistake of my life?

I lived in Frazer House about 30 years ago and if I hadn't had 3 small children I would not have minded staying there.  They are pretty good flats with decent views.  Obviously the occupants have probably changed by now but I really didn't have a problem with most of the occupants at that time.  If these flats were private and as opposed to local authority they would be every bit as expensive as the new ones down by the canal and from what I have seen of the insides of the new ones, the tower blocks are better and larger.  A lot of money has  been spent on the tower blocks and although I haven't been in one for years I would probably not mind living in one again (except I personally would miss a garden).

What have their lives been like since moving there?Any major problems?Moving anywhere is a bit of a risk anyway in terms of the area not living up to expectations or having unforseen problems.How are their neighbours,friendly or hostile?

i have a few friends that live in these tower block and not one of them moved there by choice. sorry.

Good idea Keith except that if the policing on the Estate is anything like it is north of the Great West Road looking at their figures won't give a fair picture of the situation as they seem to be, shall we say, imaginative with the way they record statistics.

The logical thing to do would be find out from the police how many asbo's and crime incidents eminate from there and drive around the estate at different times of the day and night to get a feel of it.Suggest after the pubs kick out and late fri/sat night.

I've been living in one of the Towers for six months. It's very nice. The council are constantly spending money on the estate and it's generally quiet.
