Waterman's Court goes green

A beautiful idea to plant up those barren flower boxes so thank you to everyone involved.   I read on the front page that these volunteers are intending to do this elsewhere in Brentford.  Seems an odd question in view of the damp summer, but who is watering these plants - rain often is insufficient to wet the soil in window boxes - they need additional water.   Hopefully the residents looking onto these boxes will do their bit!

It's too late now - for me as well as you but you can have a look as these online.  Northfields or Ealing Dean Allotment Society.  They are a really beautiful haven of wildlife.  We need more.  I've just been outside photographing the bees on the campanula in the garden.  More planting please! Less concrete!

Please look after any newly planted plants now in particular!  Don't worry about established (and undamaged) grass now it is very resilient and will recover.

I hope that everyone will take more interest in and will look out for their local trees and plants.  Too often communal areas mean that nobody makes the effort and takes the trouble.  As Jennifer suggests we need to be more observant and notice and keep these planters alive.An empty plastic milk jug with holes made in the lid makes an excellent small watering can.  You can swap the lids for one with holes and one without.

All the street trees near me had miniature daffodils flowering around them this year.  They were such a welcome and cheerful sight to wish along in the cold and grey months until they flowered.  Whoever those guerrilla gardeners were they were mentally thanked each time we were greeted by their promise of warmer days and brighter spring.
