CPZ consultation in Isleworth Worple Rd. area Isleworth

A lot of us received letters this week regarding a full CPZ proposal which emanates from a request from a residents association in Isleworth to extend the current RFU CPZ arrangements. This is due to excessive parking in their area. Fair enough, however - the letter was ambiguous and poorly written and you could be forgiven for thinking it didn't apply to many of us. Whether that was done deliberately to discourage negative responses who knows? Talking to neighbours it is clear that quite a few read the letter and concluded it didn't apply to us, only to the smaller area in Old Isleworth that is the subject of the opening two paragraphs. But read on.............At the moment we are covered by the RFU scheme which of course is free, a full CPZ on the other hand, covering a much larger area will mean lots of wonga for Hounslow, plus paying for visitor permits. Personally I don't think we have need of this and will respond accordingly - but I do think whatever your view you should take part in this preliminary consultation.www.hounslow.gov.uk/consultations or 'phone 020 8583 3322 for a paper questionnaire.

Yes, we know the theory - but my argument is how it is put to people - and I believe that the way that letter was phrased was done to deliberately mislead, and will not get the deserved response.Let's face it Hounslow council has form for deception in Isleworth after the Church St. debacle, the consultation has more questions about ethnicity and equality than bloody traffic/parking issues, what any of that has to do with a CPZ I cannot imagine and refuse to engage with it.

I can tell you from experience that once you get a single street becoming a CPZ you will certainly get "street" creep.  One after another streets will get blocked with overspill from the CPZ road and so it goes.  I suppose it's taken almost 10 years in Grove Park.    By the end of 2019 the entire area will be blanketed with tiny little CPZ's.  It's a very expensive way of doing this apparently.

Does beg the question "if it is not about money why can't Hounslow (and Ealing for the matter) follow the example set by Hillingdon, where each household gets their permit free for the first vehicle?"

To be honest the letter sent out was ambiguous to say the least - I e-mailed traffic to clarify what on earth they were going on about, I get why 4 Roads want something done, but the consultation questions leave a lot to be desired too, as they always do, it's not what you ask it's how you ask it. I don't have much faith in 'input from the local councillor' either, one doesn't live here and another is on the missing list most of the time these days, and unless the one halfway decent one is going to wander about asking people what they think - what input can they have?We can only hope then that common sense prevails over the parking issues that the application for The George will surely bring, and will play a part in that decision.

VanessaWe did query this with the appropriate council officer as to why they extended the consultation area. We were told it was because of the roll on displacement effect if our area was successful in obtaining a full CPZ, which I suppose makes some sense.We were advised that it would be decided on a road by road basis with the input from the local councillor, so would not preclude the whole consultation area decision. If that makes sense.
