|Parking Ticket- For the attn of Richard Jennings

Hello richard jennings I was referred to you from the Chiswick citizens advice bureax on wed 3rd july 19.My querry to you is regarding a Parking ticket I received through the post.Basically I was doing a delivery for Amazonflex as a self-employed driver.I entered an entrance to an Apartment block of flats called Princess court just off Queensway high st {where there is no parking in general}.I parked up just in front of the entrance and had a friend with me who acts as a lookout on some deliveries that I do.The problem is unfortunately I wasnt aware of any signs as I feel they were on this particular obsructed by a few parked cars on the opposite side of the compund. Also I took just 10 minutes to make the delivery.May I say that I feel there should have been at least a sign before entering the area by the apartments to notify me of what I was entering into.Am I justified in asking for this? I will be popping over to the area in question to take a few photos to see if you think I have a small chance of a case to answer to take through to P.O.P.L.A { which is the independant panel.If you need to call me my no is 07787157333. thank you

Gus, I rarely look at the Brentford forum, but I just happened to come here this evening and spotted your post. You would have found me more quickly with a post on the Chiswick forum.Princess Court is private land, with the double yellow line along Queensway running right across the entrance. As far as I can see from Street View, there is no restriction on unloading there, so you could park on the yellow line to unload, provided you didn't prevent access to and from Princess Court.If, however, you were beyond the yellow line, you were on private land and subject to the rules which are posted there.  I don't claim any expertise on private parking charges (I have no experience of appeals to POPLA, for example), so I'm sorry but I can't help you further. I'm surprised that you got my name from Chiswick CAB. I'd be interested to learn what exactly they said.  I've sent you a PM.

He should maybe ask the person he was delivering to ask their building management to waive the charges.

Peter, interesting questions.  Maybe it will be easier with cargo bikes or drones.  We have to keep changing.  I hope Gus gets some help with the ticket.

Perhaps the residents of Princess Court should be more aware of the problem their parking restrictions are creating for delivery drivers and ask their parking management to introduce some concessions.  They can hardly expect drivers to be penalised every time they try to deliver their convenient online orders. What's the attitude of Amazon and other delivery companies to their drivers when faced with parking restrictions like this? Allow them to not make the delivery? Penalise them for not making the delivery?

Streetview also shows a prominent freestanding sign at the entrance to Princess Court, and I recall seeing that sign when I've been visiting Queensway recently, although maybe that particular sign was in place on the day when Gus visited.

Gus, if you parked in Princess Court then there are 'Permit Only' and 'car park tariff' signs all over the wall, well above parked car height.I parked there only a few weeks ago due to the bay suspensions on Queensway by Bayswater Station.If you parked at the back entrance in Poplar Place then this is double yellow lined with very clear signage save for a couple of clearly signed residents only bays.Hopefully Richard can spot something I may have missed.
