Helicopter Night Flights

I’m sure many of you reading this suffered with the noise of the helicopter flying above Brentford in the early hours this morning (19/07/19) around 1am.Where do we go to find out if it is genuine Police activity or simply a late night training exercise?

I've seen some with searchlights seeking no-gooders running off through back gardens.  That was awhile back though - don't think the police can afford to do that now unless chasing down a murderer.

Very good point about the drone, but I wonder if it could carry all of the requisite 'kit'.

True, but it's dark by half past ten, they could do it then. Also a drone would be quieter and far cheaper.

There is also no other traffic to impede them flying wherever they need to.A little inconvenience to root out life-destroying drug farms - a tiny price to pay.

They sometimes look for UV light pealing from lofts to detect cannabis farms. This is best done at night.

Yes CAA FCS1521v2 form has been complete and filed.Looking for cannabis farms uses a heat detector so it can be done during the daytime. If it’s genuinely there to assist crime that’s perfectly ok, but if it is night flight training, that’s not good.

I have queried this in the past, when helicopters just go round and round in a circle over the Brentford/South Ealing area at night. Someone said they are looking for cannabis farms. No idea whether that's right or not, but it is a real nuisance.
