Some ugly local views:  Brentford Tourist Office please note!

As you ease down Ealing Road southwards towards the River Thames..as the 65 bus has done for many many years ...you will arrive at the Brentford Riviera..facing as it does the World Heritage Site of Kew Gardens across the water.Make sure you have an upstairs seat on the bus ..then you won't miss the view of our Waterman's Art Centre...and the filthy eyesaw of its dustbins and refuse garbage area..which hasn't been cleaned or swept out for yonks. It's a health hazard..and must surely encourage rats! Whoever supervises the place or checks it out should be fired!

I agree with you about the arch Gerry, pity it couldn't be accompanied by the Russian national Anthem, (The old USSR one) restored by President Putin, a stiring accompanyment. Our Russian friends certainly know their architecture.

Shocking Jim. Brentford is beginning to look like a third world town in some banana republic. Shame on Hounslow LA.Thanks for posting that beautiful little arch in Vladivostock - its a delight.

The beauty of St Mary's Crescent..perhaps spoilt only by this poorly maintained Council notice board outside Osterley Library.

It's all on the corner of Glenhurst Road..not Orchard Road.  Why should local residents have to be visually offended each they walk past this ugly scene. Is it owned by Goddards?When you think of the effort to upgrade the Station..the Kings  Head/Arms pub is very good looking..and then there's this!

What a welcoming sight for visitors to the area by train!!And as passengers leave the one and only Brentord Stationon the north side..Orchard Road?..they see this view...amongst the well kept Victorian Terraces. Why?

What a welcoming sight for visitors to the area by train!!And when passengers leave the Station on the north side..to wander down the Victorian streets.. they immediately see this ugly scene.Why should the residents of Brentford have to be tarnished with such ugly scenes. The Tourist Office squad should get cracking...or local Councillors should do something.

You're fully deserving of the accolade IMHO.'Citizen Stirrer' might be the way the bureaucrats see it, of course!Anyway, I plan to get myself one of them new-fangled digital contrivances and look forward to joining the growing ranks of Citizen Snappers...Move over, Candid Camera!BTW has anyone thought of alerting, say, the Watermans of your photos of their bin area? These exposures will only work if we let the culprits know we're on to them... Probably they're so used to the way things are that they don't realise what an eyesore it's become.

Michel:Wow..thank you for that. Some would question my over zealous picture posting on these Forums. I have taught others on local Forums how to join in and it is good fun. My Dad would have told me to stop showing off..he was probably right! but I'm flattered that you should award me such an accolade!! "Citizen Journalist"..sounds good!I'm helping to stir the stagnant porridge!Digital cameras seem so easy to use..and the photo results far exceed one's expectations. The siting of the garbage area of an arts centre puts off potential visitors. Who is responsible for this planning? Shame on you.

Located on the banks of the River Thames, the Waterman's Art centre continues to offer amazing views to visitors and residents passing by on the High Street.The local Council Area Committee Members should be embarrassed.

This picture ..in my opinion..gives a flattering view of this unoccupied office building in Brentford..because it really is quite ugly. It looked an eyesore from the moment it was erected..and over all these two,three, four years or so..it has never been occupied. Someone must be nigh on bankrupt as it started off for rental..and now for sale. Who approves such incompatible styles?

Adjacent to the entrance to the Osterley Library..and the Bowls Club...the local authority leaves its mark.Or is it someone elses mark?If this building was in Windsor it would be beautifully painted in a rural dark green or something. Instead locals and visitors see this.

In the shadow of Brunel's 1850's (?) railway viaduct in THE HAM recent occupants of the area seem to take little pride in their environment.  Its been like it for years.  Perhaps in its own way its adds interest to the scene. Once the rubbish is gone..it might look boring. Happens its modern day Art!

Is it that Blue Box (Travel Inn) behing the Church Tower?The Travel Inn building..in my view..is totally inappropriate..indeed a disaster.The Church Tower must be wondering about its future. Apparently, Barretts your friendly builder (with contacts in the demolition industry!)is appealing against its rejected Planning Application.Were the terracotta tiles the best decision on those new flats?
