Hounslow Pensioners Forum

I've started going to this group with-in the last year so laid back very enjoyable great guest speakers. Open to any pensioner in Hounslow. It's on from 1030-1200 last Friday of each month. Oh yes guest speaker this Friday is Ruth Cadbury.

What you say is spot on about the phone. When you need a hard copy you have to go to the library. If you have a printer I have found that if its not used a lot the cartridge can dry up. So if I need a copy of something should I pay £20 for another cartride in order to get a copy of course not.

It has become increasingly obvious that although there may be various sorts of help that getting it can be challenging.  A lot of the form filling is now only online which for those unused to working like this is very frustrating and difficult.  Even if people have a mobile phone they may not be able to or want to use it for more than just that - a phone you can carry around and use to call for a taxi or help when you are out.With forms you will want to have a tangible copy that you can refer to without the hassle of having to log in and remember user names and passwords etc.

You might also find these websites useful:https://www.which.co.uk/later-life-careand https://www.ageuk.org.ukYou can be put in touch with organisations which specialise and may be able to help you with any problems that you have.  Age UK found someone from the British Legion for me who offered to accompany my blind FIL to visit MIL in hospital (more often than we were going).  We didn't actually take the offer up but just knowing that it was there made a difference to FIL.https://www.ageuk.org.uk/hounslow/activities-and-events/activities/Lots of activities here including IT.  They also host a session by the Middlesex Association for the Blind - which you have to book for.  You can get help in choosing equipment.

At this forum last month was a lady from Hounslow Council on support for elderly was brilliant as she explained help I just didn't know was there.
