AndrewThe petition calling for a crossing on Summerwood Road is interesting. It was, of course, a member of the community who initiated this campaign and he - and we - received no co-operation from the council despite a petition containing several hundred signatures being submitted. The Labour petition is to be presented to Ann Keen MP. I would presume that she would have given it the nod already and has reason to believe that it will be successful. This must raise serious questions about the relationship between the Labour Party and some officers of the council. If this petition comes to the Isleworth & Brentford Area Committee it will have my full support and, I would imagine, that of my fellow ward councillors. Aren't the originators of the Labour petition lucky to have councillors in Isleworth who would not let petty political considerations get the better of their support for a worthy venture? It is difficult to imagine a petition collected by the ICG, no matter how noble the cause, receiving any kind of co-operation from councillors associated with Alan's party. One more example, if any were needed, of the differences which exist between the mature "community first" ethos of the ICG and the puerile "yah-boo" politicking of New Labour.
