Candidates named for Osterley & Spring Grove by-election

As promised, here is an update on the Osterley & Spring Grove by-election.Nominations closed at noon today and there will be four candidates.  They are:Bandana CHOPRA (New Labour)Sheila O'REILLY (Conservative)Naseem PANKHIDA (Liberal Democrat)Andrew SIBLEY (Community)Ms. Chopra is the daughter of Councillor Krishnan Lal Chopra, who represents Feltham West and is a member of the council's ruling Executive.  Ms. Pankhida is also known as Naseem Yousef, and I'm not sure which name she will be listed under on the ballot paper.The Brentford, Chiswick & Isleworth Times this morning gave some really excellent coverage to the launch of this campaign.  Lately I have been critical of the Times and its rather bashful approach to reporting any news which involves the ICG, so I should place on record my sincere thanks to Sally for reproducing the WHOLE of our press statement dismissing the hypocritical criticisms which we have received from some politicians for instigating this by-election.As Andy is the only male candidate in the field we will naturally be courting the MCP vote.  Any suggestions for a campaign slogan in this department will be greatly appreciated. :o)P.S. For the benefit of the politicians, the last paragraph was intended to be a JOKE.

Yes Phil, very good coverage in the Brentford and Chiswick Times Friday morning..and I was surprised that the names were so quickly available.Andy..the Community candidate..had a good write up in particular..and he's certainly bashed out many good messages on the Brentford Forum in recent times.I wonder how many households will get a visit from Candidates ..in the run up to the Election. No leaflets received yet...but I can't wait to read the fibs and overstatements from you know who!

I contested the general election on that understanding...Seriously though, it might be worth a dozen votes.  Being bottom of the list is second best, I'm told, as some people by all accounts read from bottom to top.One could argue, of course, that anybody who couldn't be bothered to read through four names shouldn't be voting.

Is it true that the nearer you are to the top of the ballot paper, the bigger your advantage? (a bit like getting the first entry in the phone book)
