Windmill Road North awash with rainwater again!! Today.

his issue was raised by me last year on this Forum..and a local resident was very happy that I had highlighted the matter..but at that time the messages were without the benefit of Picture Posting Diplomas!!

If it is Jim, scan it and send please. The email variety of the B&C Times I get has such ridiculous tiny photos...I have asked if they can send full sized but no response.

Jim I think what happened here is that when you resized the picture in the imaging program, you didn't keep the aspect ratio. When I resize in there I put 600 in first box and 0 in next. If your original photo is this 600 x 1200 pixels then I haven't a clue what your camera did. Email me if you have the original untouched and I'll play.

Jim, I'm about stumped - couldn't wait 'til tomorrow to try to fix this. What did you do to make it too tall? I can't widen it at all. Can you send me the original via email? This is such fun....

Sarah...Geezer..got it!Yes he first came to my attention on the Chiswick forum...and so when I saw him recently parking up near the Watermans Art Centre...I got out the camera. He took his dog ..a regular companion...for a walk along the Waterman's gardens.

Thanks for the applause..I'm embarrassed..and my Dad..if he were alive... would tell me off..for showing off!Some may think that I'm similar to a graffiti artist these days..plastering photos everywhere!!..but I try not to overdo it...and hope that what images are posted ..are in good taste.Our friend Sally Henfield, of the Brentford and Chiswick Times may be using the Windmill Road North photos in this weeks issue. In the absence of local Brentford Councillors responding to the problem, perhaps Sally's article will get Thames Water..or the Councils involved ..to help the local long-suffering residents. (Shame ..when its sorted they'll be no big puddles to play in!!)

Bill:As you have recalled we did all exchange information about the sub-terranian Brentford streams that flow domwn from the uplands (!) of Swanscombe Road,and Little Ealing lane. After a rainfall..there's quite a pile of water flowing downhill.No wander one chap drives around in a fine Landrover..with his dog in the passenger seat! Have you seen him?And Janet Macnamara..then the local historian at Boston Manor House..did remind us that there is a pond buried nearby the big puddles also.

Perhaps we shouldnt be surprised,wasnt this the path of one of the old streams that ran from the high ground in Ealing ,then down through Brentford into the Thames?

Our intrepid reporter Jim Lawes does it again! Imagine him dancing down Windmill Lane with a happy refrain(plus camera) to Gene Kelly's marvellous song:Do be do do, - do be do do do do... In the knowledge that the Community in Windmill Road North needed to be served...I carried on photographing some eight shots regardless..and got absolutely soaked!!  ;0)

I love the rain, Jim, but we are fortunate not to have to worry or be frightened of a downpour.  The pix are great and really show the state of the road and drains.  I remember you posting on the subject last year – if the residents were out or away, per-raps they could use the photos as proof?

and the resident dispair that nothing has been done. A group of passers by had to halt the traffic and paddle down the centre of the road..as the pavements on both sides were flooded..indeed some front doors were threatened!!

The problem is located on the borders of the Ealing and Hounslow Boroughs.  It was only a short spurt of torrential rain this afternoon...15 mins?..and whilst the Great west Road (outside PC World) could cope with it, and no doubt Isleworth Station Bridge..and the newly repaired Jersey Road could all cope..this road couldn't...much to the inconvenience of motorists and pedestrians.
