Morrisons Update

I see my post on 13th December with responses from Guy Lambert have been deleted... according to Guy Morrisons is most likely open until at least June now as they have a six month notice period but this weekend we were told by the staff that the shop is closing in February... Why was my inquiry deleted from a forum and Guy, what is the situation here with Morrisons - surely the council would know when the primary supermarket for the entire area is closing...?

There appears to be two forum sites 're update on Morrison's closure l was told by a member of staff date is now 2021, which l posted on the other site, they had it in writing l believe, good news for us fingers crossed.

Three years. THREE years without a supermarket. No supermarket and half a High Street.And this is called 'planning'?

It is not within the council's power to put a ban on development of the Morrison's site, though I believe a revised planning application is coming soon. However that the community needs a supermarket (which it does) would not be a legal ground for enforcing a delay.There has (as I understand it) been an issue with the Environment Agency to do with their revising flood rules which has delayed commencement of work on the council block next to Catherine Wheel Road. I understand demolition will start very soon. Groundworks are going ahead for the development of 19 council houses on the Acton Lodge site so you will see these emerging from the ground shortly. I also noticed works have started on the 11 'infill' flats within Brentford Towers. It's frustrating how long these developments take, though the delays to Morrisons are very welcome.

There is, I believe, a food store planned for the Ballymore development, due to open Early 2023. Why don't the council put a ban on the development of the Morrisons site until this time, due to community needs? Is this too much common sense? If the need for social housing is used as an argument, maybe LBH should announce some plans for their High Street social housing block. Sorry if I missed these!

We would not necessarily know - as far as I know there's no requirement for them to tell us - but I would expect they would.It will be down to negotiation between Morrisons and their landlord L&Q I imagine.There have been a lot of rumours about Morrisons' closure, all wrong so far.The last one I heard was on Brentford Today and TV facebook page:• 11.30am Thursday: The suspense continues....L&Q are good regarding media queries. However the person we usually deal with is on Christmas holiday until Monday and out of touch. We have made contact by both email and phone but his office suggests we wait until then for clarification. Has Morrisons closure been delayed? We can but hope and pray.The suggestion there is that closure is delayed until the end of 2020.I will see what I can find out
