Wear White At Night.

Whilst we work on the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, could we bring this one back too?I am fed up with not seeing jaywalkers unless the bottom of their trainers are white, and why do cyclist have a death wish wearing dark colours with no lights or spoke or pedal reflectors?Grrrrr!

Almost drove into the side of a black clad, black faced man on an electric scooter charging along Burlington Lane as I was about to turn right off the Chiswick Bridge station railway bridge.  In driving wind and rain, no lights, he was all but invisible, it was just a movement through the murk that alerted me to make an emergency stop - on he sailed completely oblivious to what might have been!

Yes. video of what they look like at night - just like the CCTV of the flytippers.  They might be surprised (if they can recognise themselves).  Whether they care is something else.  At least they might see the near misses they may not realise that they have had.

Regarding scooters l know they are illegal on roads and pavements that doesn't stop them but at least they shouldbe the same as bikes, lights and a bell to warn when they speed past you saw one on phone with headphones no consideration for anyone except themselves sometimes show all road users result of an accident might save a life.

Driving home around 5/5.30pm last night from Barnes in moving but heavy traffic, I almost ran into a black-clad cyclist with only the faintest hint of a tail light.  Sure he was oblivious to how close he was to being run over by a heavy metal vehicle!  All cyclists and pedestrian too must me forced to wear at a minumum a bright yellow sash diagonally across their bodies.  Shortly after that a helmeted chap in dark clothes on an electric scooter with good front and rear lights, charged across the lights just they changed, again risking a collision!

And as for the unlit e-scooters whizzing up from behind and across in front of you on the pavement on the dark...Loved some fluorescent feet I've seen on some cycles recently!

And with the 20 mph speed limits you are quite likely to be tailgated by a moronic cyclist in your blind spot with no reflective clothing. Still cannot believe the number of cyclists riding without lights at 5pm

Completely agree - but what an impractical colour in London.We have to look at reflective jackets and sashes and bags etc.Also worrying because when the streets are quiet despite the lower speed limits we have now in many places it is far too tempting to many drivers to go faster than they would in daytime.  Hopefully new cameras will pick up the worst of these drivers and they will be fined.

I couldn't agree more - dark bodies at night are just plain mad - they run an enormous risk of being hit if they cannot be seen.  Unfortunately it would be the traumatised driver who would be blamed too.  I've managed to avoid this accident waiting to happen more times than I can remember.
