Norovirus Ashford and Chertsey

I read that the hand gel that is provided is no good with this virus. Soap and water is best. I did not realise this I buy it for when I eat out. Do others realise this.

In other words - being responsible yourself!  It is YOU that has to do this, not the local council, not Government but YOU have to take responsibility.  This self responsibility needs to be hammered home to all school kids and into their mums and dads too who have been brought up to believe that "big Brother" or some wonderful outside body will take care of everything, YOU don't have to do anything at all - well how very wrong YOU are!

Several years ago I was putting these signs up in the office loos.At the Pre-School Nursery there are hand prints painted around the cubicles to remind the children to wash their hands.Interesting to hear again yesterday that we should spend more time washing our hands thoroughly with soap and water...  because of the Coronavirus and using tissues when you cough and sneeze.  We use loo paper and then flush it - not too much at a time.

It is true that handgel does not work against Norovirus (winter vomiting bug).  I remember reading this in hospitals in the past by the basin and soap and handgel as you walked into a ward.  That is why there is such a fuss about people washing their hands well.  Unfortunately that is not always very easy as you go into and out of hospitals - where you often  only see handgel.  If you have been ill with something like this you should wait 48 hours before visiting anyone in hospital.  Note what it says about cleaning surfaces and bedding and clothing (and remember doorhandles and loo handles).Here is some Norovirus info:https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-and-poisoning/norovirusI suppose they will keep curtains drawn around a bed with a notice pinned across the way in.You can often tell someone who has worked in a hospital by the way that they wash their hands - AND dry them (no patting them dry on the back of your trousers!):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGJNspLRdrc

I read it on Surrey daily news. It said also if people were unable to be isolated on a side room they would be isolated in the ward. Did not understand that either.
