Speaking from the planet Zargon I can only express my surprise at the continuing level of debate of you-know-what.Yes, Farage et al. were somewhat infantile waving the union flag where national flags are not allowed, but I suggest it's a little more mature than going into the same chamber with T-shirts saying: "Bollocks to Brexit". A slogan picked up from Pimlico Plumbers' large hoarding near Clapham Junction (yes, the same Pimlico Plumbers that were taken to the High Court by the unions over their employment practices).A flawed vote? How so? The referendum turnout was 72%, higher than any recent general election."There going to be an economic disaster!" That's not very likely though some will lose, others will gain. Besides, and this is an important reason why 'Remain' lost, it was not all about the economy. To some people there are more important things. "£350 million was a lie!" Not strictly true, it was a distortion though being the gross rather than the nett figure. Our actual contribution (at that time) was, nett £180 million per week after all the rebates and benefits, grants etc. Still pretty hefty I'd say. To go back to the original question, I have no problem with Cllr. Curran flying the EU flag, at least during the transition period, any more than flying the flag of any other nation the borough is twinned with as long as the union flag is raised as well.People will always have opinions about whether it was a good idea or not, but here on Zargon, we find it's better to consider the long-term and not try to read the future too much. We also find it aids one's argument to double-check one's posts (grammar as well as facts) before they are submitted.Live long and prosper.
