Clapping For The NHS

I am very proud to say that Enfield Road, Brentford had a very large show of neighbour out to clap, whistle and whoop. For all the staff who are doing a brilliant job. Thank you and keep going we need you and support you NHS

What I would like to see is the Leader of the council out of his Chelsea tractor and on a push bike, if it's good enough for everyone else it's good enough for all our elected members.

The government has covered the parking costs imposed by the LOCAL NHS trusts. The LOCAL NHS Trusts impose the charges, you can't blame the goverment for the reimposition of a LOCAL decision.The Trusts can simply choose not to charge its own staff to park, although doubtless there will be local councillors who think that all staff should be on pushbikes in their 'cycling utopia'.

Free hospital parking for NHS staff will end in all but “certain circumstances” once the coronavirus pandemic begins to ease, the government has said.Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced on March 25 that the government would cover the costs of car parking for NHS staff who he said were “going above and beyond every day” at hospitals in England.But the Department of Health has said the free parking will continue only for “key patient groups and NHS staff in certain circumstances” as the pandemic eases, although no further timeline has been given.

You can't blame the lousy (and they are) government for the reintroduction of parking charges, These are wholly and solely under the control of the individual Trusts who could, if they wish, make staff parking free 'at a stroke'.

Yes, the ultimate betrayal by this lousy government, clapping is lovely - but paying all the staff properly and not charging them to go to work would be even better. Plus a full and abject apology for Johnson's scapegoating of the care homes and workers wouldn't go amiss, had the brass neck to do that while his father, Cummings and Jenrick drove a coach and horses through the lockdown rules everyone else was sticking to.
