Three Huge Blockages in Just Three Weeks

Usually it takes two to three months for blockages like this to appear.It seems that people have been using more alternatives to loo paper and instead of binning whatever they've used they're trying to flush it.  Only pee poo and loo paper should be flushed.  No wipes and no newspaper - whatever happened way back when!https://corporate.thameswater.co.uk/media/News-releases/News-Release---Beddington-rag? That is just one sewage works.  You could end up blocking the sewer and your loo overflowing into your home.  Seriously, who would want to risk that?

I've been told recently that as a result of the lockdown or maybe even before that with the attempt to avoid so much plastic that milk deliveries door to door have increased.  It is a bit of a shame because that plastic is more reyclable than much of the rest we find on our purchases in the supermarkets.  It will mean that many people do have access to a delivery service which can include other essentials.

I heard that there was a lot of milk being put down the drains but I think that was mainly because the coffee shops have been closed (although some seem to be opening as take-aways).  Tonight I was watching as kegs of beer were being thrown away because they are going out of date (what does that mean with beer?  It is often a term I hear used but don't drink beer) because the pubs are closed.

In a storm some time ago a fat berg broke up and washed into the Thames. The rats ate it and died. The photos were in a news sheet. I think it was at Putney.

Try telling an 18 year old daughter that she is using too much loo paper. It's not a subject that goes down well in this household but this has been a long standing issue with our daughter, her friends and her cousins.They go through more loo roll than we can currently buy. The biggest bugbear has been blocked sewers.Now in the current situation it's being frugal and responsible about wasting and overusing anything.  But it still does not seem to be getting through to the 18-30 year olds.None of us want a family row or to have family members feel put upon but it is a resolute no from them and their Mums are at their wit's end with them.Just how do you approach the subject?  The perforations are spaced for a reason but that seems to have been forgotten.I think it's time for a return to public information films to reeducate a whole generation who simply have known nothing other than abundance and are hugely hateful and yet carp on at us beleaguered parents about the planet.So never mind cars and veganism, Start with saving the trees with using Loo roll sparingly and saving the drains and this public health.Happy 'No row' Easter folks!
