PPE Bulk buy

So we missed three chances to bulk buy PPE with the EU. The gowns were particulary effective in Italy where they protected against droplets. Now the EU is starting stockpiles in various countries. The government has not said when we are starting stockpiles. The opposite in fact not enough PPE, carers still without PPE. I dont understand why they turned down such a good offer. Why didnt we get a special deal from the USA?

Would they? Being full members of the EU doesn't seem to have helped any number of EU countries get all of the PPE that they need.
No point in stockpiling 'just in case' either as AC masks and some types of glove have short 'use by' dates.

There are sharks everywhere unfortunately.  It's best to know your suppliers.

Why is the EU starting with Romania stockpiling then? Surley they would not stockpile old dates. We should be stockpiling  as we dont want to get it wrong again.

AFAIK ppe has a used by date as well.

Because it's everyman for himself. It's amazing what does not get mentioned. A lot of what was offered was 'graded' That is 's seconds' on old moneyUnreliable testing kits and so on. Govt can get ripped of just as easily as us using Amazon or Ebay or online outlets
