It sounds like your TV is at least somewhat smart so that may work. If not all you need is a spare HDMI socket (or you can get an HDMI switch). Then you get a little stick to turn your TV really smart. We have a dumb HD TV and had an old Fire TV stick that was slow so I researched this last week. They all seem to be £50 or so unless you want an apple logo on it. Roku sounds good only in the USA. The Chromecast is excellent at mirroring your computer or smartphone screen but has no remote and really suits using a smartphone as the controller. We chose an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, which once you connect it to your home wifi does YouTube, iPlayer and all the other TV catch-up services. We also get Netflix and Spotify through it, both subscription. The big advantage of Fire TV over Chromecast is that it has its own remote including the ability to order it around with voice commands. We still watch Freeview programmes via our Humax PVR but much less than we did. Whatever you choose make sure it's 4K - it seems impossible to buy mere HD TVs now. If you do get one of these streaming sticks you might get started far more easily with some setup help from a reasonably technical neighbour. Oops that's not allowed!
