Local MP have meeting about Heathrow (from front page )

Having lived by Heathrow for the last 25 years it has never really bothered me . You get use to the planes . And I or anyone in my family hasnt needed it for a job . I don't want it to go back to what it was I'm enjoying the quite I'm enjoying the less polluted air I'm enjoying that local wildlife is enjoying the same . The trees look greener the River Thames is certainly cleaner. Why does it has to be the noisiest,diriest and  busiest airport . Why is it always about MONEY . We won't have a world to visit if some sort of travel reduction didn't happen Isn't mother nature telling us something . No I don't want it to go back to what it was 😣

How horrid I do not remember seeing those photos.Heathrow must not go back to being such a polluting centre.  Not only have the days of peace been greatly beneficial, the lack of dirty air raining down onto us all has proved especially advantageous to anyone with breathing problems.  I notice my garden furniture no longer needs scouring every other day to remove the sticky black tar-like substance.  Some maybe from local traffic but mostly it's from the 'planes.  We are a healthier population with cleaner air and less likely to require help from the NHS GPs & hospitals. .

When we had the heavy rain the fat bergs broke up and washed into the Thames. Even the rats died through eating them I remember there were photos in the Chiwick news sheet.

The Thames takes decades to clean, not weeks.  Heavy rainfall in Nov to February has made it cleaner looking due to outflow.We have had really nice weather for most of the lockdown. It's spring and people have time for a change to look around and take in what is always really nice at this time of year on a good day.However we are almost in a drought and food crops are already having to be irrigated and manpower is lacking because so few able people on 80% salaries have volunteered to work on farms.A bit different here as It's not something one can walk or cycle to or even drive to in 10 mins.But much of what we eat for our  5 a day, much of what we buy to keep amused or able to continue working is airfreighted. Even mores at present.Well over 100.000 people make a living from Heathrow directly or indirectly from a radius of 35 miles around it.Heathrow may well become a major Cargo hub. It's always been in the wrong place but the overdense populous near to it is largely because of it.  But so are many jobs and livelihoods. Low paid that many of them are, they still make it possible for people to exist.
