UK economy shrinks record 20.4% in April due to lockdown

The consequence of the over the top panic reaction to a disease that, for most people under 60 is equivalent to a bout of flu.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53019360There will likely be a massive transfer of wealth and power from workers and small business to large multi national corporations, as high street businesses are wiped out, unemployment rockets and taxes shoot up. The ONS stats already show a rising death toll from shutting down NHS services to deal with the non existent Chinese virus surge and worse will come as the health effects of economic depression kick in.

I just heard this on Classic Fm news.  This highlights the risk of the New Zealand approach in that they have little immunity.  They will have to be extremely vigilant until (and if) a vaccine comes along).  However, theirs is a small population with established tracing so maybe they will be able to deal with these sort of outbreaks.

Raymond,Have you seen any quantitative studies that support your claim that "People well under 60 who have had this are now finding a great deal of damage has been done and other ailments are manifesting"?I've only been able to find reports such as this:https://abcnews.go.com/Health/coronavirus-long-term-effects/story?id=69811566which refers to long term effects in high risk patients particularly those who end up in ICU.  Indeed, there are reports that ventilation itself may cause lung damage and is contra indicated for severe Covid cases.The risk of mutation is always there (particularly with the worlds's military industrial complex tampering with virus genomes).  At an individual level we should take all this as a reminder to take responsibility for our health - good diet, exercise outdoors etc.I believe the term "Covid related" refers to cases where Covid appears on the death certificate but not as primary cause of death. The ONS data shows another cohort of deaths which is those exceeding the 5 year average with no mention of Covid.  This growing group is likely to be those dying of untreated other conditions and longer term we will be seeing deaths from suicide etc as an indirect consequence. I think we agree that there is now a very real risk that the economic effects of the lockdown will ultimately dwarf the direct health effects of the virus.

People well under 60 who have had this are now finding a great deal of damage has been done and other ailments are manifesting.It's true though that the abandonment of most other parts of health and social care is why explanations refer to "Covid Related" deaths.That means untreated due to the shutdown of other services due to Covid.So in reality this virus can kill you without ever getting it.  Anything else contracted that is normally treatable is more likely to kill you than before.It's pretty obvious that the Prime Minister is far from his pre-covid healthy demeanour.The real risk is if this mutates into an even more serious virus which may wipe out millions with no ability for containment.
