Post Bexit Gps

Post brexit we will need another GPS because we will be excluded from Galileo which we helped design. The system which we have selected uses low orbiting saltelites which are really for connecting people to the internet and thus not that good for GPS. The experts are baffled why we chose this. It is going to cost millions. Brexiteers never said that much about it pre refererendum. I wonder why we chose this system. I expect there are some contributors on this site that have opinions as to why we did.

Galileo provides several different services: free, commercial and encrypted for use only by member governments.The UK no longer has access to the encrypted service.I believe the existing global SatNav services (US GPS, Russian GLONASS, EU Galileo) plus regional services launched by Japan, China, India and some other countries have been allocated pretty well all of the usable frequencies for satellites in this orbit.I really couldn't say if the low earth orbit satellites the UK has invested in are capable of providing the same sort of global SatNav services or if it is money "spaffed up against the wall" as the Prime Minister would put it.

We now learn today from the BBC that the UK is to take a £4000000.00 stake in OneWeb to make up for our loss of Galileo. Looks like my info was right after all!

More Guardian scaremongering?Save for a no-deal exit we are commited to CAP payments until 31.12.2022 nothing has changed.

Galileo has been in the news on and off for a long time. Well before the Guardian got hold of it. My point is the Brexiteers glossed over it. Now we learn the CAP payments are going to be paid by the present government for its life. Why not stop them on the 1st Jan.

The Guardian, and it is generally known that post Brexit we will be excluded thus no access to Galileo. The government are going ahead with our own system and the cost is deemed to be around £500000000.00.

The higher-precision capabilities are available for paying commercial users"Public precision is 1 metre, encrypted 1cm.As always Nicholas - what are your sources for this story?
