BT Legacy

I wonder if anybody has heard this. It concerns only customers with land lines. BT intend to finish a number of legacy deals which do not include calls to mobiles only landlines. The new charge will be £15 a month on top of rental. They say these customers already pay £10.50 a month but the new charge wont be felt in full as these customers already make on a average £1.83 of calls not included in the free mins. It seems the landline is once again going to get more expensive. I notice a mobile on O2 can be bought for £6.50 on PAYG and if you select to have a £5 monthly debit to your credit you get unlimited texts and mins. Thats £60 a year which makes BT look pretty unattractive. The change takes place in Sept but if you are affected you will get a letter. What do people think and have I got this right?

So either contact BT for a more suitable landline package, or compare the deals from other suppliers.

My point is you appear to have a landline as I do. I pay around £65 a quarter for something I dont use, and it seems a bit much that it is going to go up to give us minutes that I wont use.

I cannot remember the last call I made on our landline.I moved to giffgaff seven years ago and I get unlimited calls and text messages for £6 per month (it was a fiver but they put the prices up last year). The customer service is excellent so I don't begrudge the only price rise in seven years.

You are correct in realising that BT standard packages do bot give you the cheapest option.  You are also free to change supplier.  You can also be offered cheaper deals for taking a 12, 18 or 24 month deal.Last year I started to use the O2 unlimited calls and texts for £5 per month, instead of a deal with my landline supplier.Make sure you look out for terms and conditions of any new deal, so that you don't get into a new fixed term deal that isn't what yu want.
