I think this year the flu jab is going to be offered to the over 50's, but I don't think the GP's are happy about it for some reason. If a vaccination is voluntary then its up to the individual to make up their mind either way.But I wish some of the Childhood vaccinations where about when I was young. I caught Measles when I was four years of age, it killed the nerves leading away from your ear drum that tells your brain that you can hear, so I ended up with a deaf ear.I think I caught every other childhood illness going except Chickenpox. My Granddaughter kindly passed that on to me about 24 years ago, and unbeknown to me so did other patient at my practice. We were both ruffly the same age and in good health, but after 4 weeks I asked to be taken to work to pick up some paperwork that I could do while at home. When I got back home, I ended being very ill and back in bed not able to do a thing.I was told when I was fit and well, that the other patient did a similar thing and went to visit their mother, but very sadly died of a heart attack while there.Apparently his heart was weakened having to fight the Virus and so was mine.So don't knock vaccination, you could end up being the unlucky one.
