Something positive for a change!!

What superb Job on resurfacing my old home street of Lateward Road. At least 30 years overdue, pothole ridden and bumpy. One of the 4 worst roads in Brentford for ages.Saw those guys woking like trojans on Monday whilst visiting an old friend and in all that heat with all the protective gear on.But the quality of the new surface and the tidy finish looks great. Compare that to several streets in nearby Northfields that have had really poor work done - simply patched a few potholes and sprayed tar and scattered loose chippings over the top.  All the lumps, ruts, dips and bumps remain and it's a nightmare to cycle on. So much for making cycling safer!!I hope they get a big thanks from LBH on our behalf. Quality does make a difference.Sad to say that by lunchtime yesterday someone had already fly tipped on the new surface by the Chinese Takeaway.I suppose the utilities will be round next week to dig it all up!

£2M is spread over 3 years. We did about 20 roads across the borough (including Chestnut Avenue) last year and are doing 13 this year (of which Lateward is one).These are in addition to the many roads Hounslow Highways resurface in the normal way as part of the PFI deal which was struck in about 2012.

It was promised by Matt Harmers predecessor - can't recall her name now. and again in some initiative 7 years ago.Neither happened.But this time.At last. Even though we have moved up the road! If only most roads were like this cycling might be an all year round possibility without busting oneself or the bike.

Apparently, from the front page here Lateward Road, Thornbury Road and St Mary’s Crescent are to benefit from the latest phase of Hounslow Council’s Pothole Pledge programme.This was launched in 2018 as an opportunity for residents to nominate roads they consider require attention; Hounslow Council committed £2million to fix the roads deemed most in need of repair.A promise is a promise even if it is 2 years since LBH pledged their £2 million.  I do hope none of the fly-tipped rubbish has firmly attached itself  to the new glossy surface and despoiled it.
