Have a house nearby where a bush in the front garden has overgrown the pavement to such an extent that you have to go out into the road if you wish to pass. Ducking under the tree is possible if you limbo dance. So, yes, I knocked and asked if they would consider cutting it back. The reaction (well, I could have misread it) was somewhat of nosy neighbour type of response, capped with a slam of the door as I turned away. So, yes, I called the Council. Bit reluctant, as you may have previously observed, but I called the main switchboard. I clearly said it was to do with cutting back an overhanging tree, and was put through to refuse collection. Who very po-litely told me it was CIP who dealt with this and gave me a number - 88942677. Lady on that line very nicely explained that it was not them but she would deal with it by sending the information through to the right department - and she would have done. I asked to speak directly to the section concerned and she gave me 85835074 who listened and then said would put me through - and (fanfare, puh-leese) da-da! Found the right person, who is getting somebody to deal with it!Maybe HM magazine could do an outline of who does what at the Fortress and who to contact? A few e-mail addresses would be useful so we don't have to deal with the phone all the time!
