young boy forced by bullys into the river at watermans park

a young 10 year old boy was forced by 14 year old bullys  yesterday and made to go into the river at watermans park they told him they would beat him up and steal his bike  he managed to climb out and run away  he was in a bad way when i found him shaking and covered in muck from the river he could have drown poor little boy.I was very dissapointed with the police who took around 23mins to answer my phone call and then after that didnt even come to see the boy. The Brentford Wardens were fantastic and come round straight away to see him and if he neeeded to go to hospital they do a better job than the police can often do  so im grateful that we have the wardens they are the real heros of brentford to know that they are a phone call away and respond so quickly

Have you any more info on these Brentford wardens? Do they only respond to Hounslow run estates? I would like to ask them to monitor the little gang who operate on the riverside around Ferry Quays next to Goat Wharfe. I watched them collect wood and build a fire in front of the commercial building to the left of Goat Wharfe. They are quite intimidating to the residents of Ferry Quays who have had numerous acts of vandalism and breakins. Maybe it was part of this group?

hi all thanks for responding i havent seen the little boy since but have heard he was very shaken and hasent really come out since the incident The Brentford wardens patrol brentford and other areas and work as part of hounslow homes havent got their number at hand but will get it for you all they are fantastic and do respond to things very quick which is a great help to many people i dont think they work along side the police but its a shame they cant use the volentry police with special cases their job is on the front line they start from 3pm till 11pm i think brentford is safer with the wardens and i would like to say a special thanks to the warden called Ray.Cheers Debbie

DebbieThanks for publicising that dreadful incident..and thank goodness you managed to get help.Are the wardens the people who look after the Estates across the road..and Haverfield etc? It's great that they responded and helped you.

I'm afraid I don't know...Debbie are they the new Community Support Officers? they are like support to the police, but local people re encouraged to apply for this sort of post (if it's the people I'm thinking of) as they know the community. I don't know the number, but if you have it Debbie, I would find it very useful

I hope the boy and his family press charges aginst the other boys; it will be dreadful if they get away with it...sadly there are all too many cases similar to this. Thankyou for getting involved, it's a shame more people haven't got your public spiritedness. Nice also to hear positive reports about the wardens.

Sadly it seems to be getting increasingly lawless in the parish,what with the appaling muggings on the canal towpath and the horrible assault perpetrated out side Petsmart highlighted on the home page.Can't the police make a concerted effort to patrol these areas?

Well done Debbie for noticing the lad’s distress.  It is often gangs who back each other up to gather false praise from each other, who take on this sort of attack.  Wonder whether the psychologists would say the same thing would happen if the gang was prised apart?  Do the leaders become leaders of another gang?  Or is it the hang-ons who praise new leaders, into the position?  If the mentality cannot be tackled, it will never go away.  Thank goodness for the wardens – but they probably know the characters involved from their local knowledge?Looking at the proposals on the news for reorganising the Police yesterday – it is quite amazing how few Police there actually are, and it wasn’t clear if the numbers included the Community (cheap) Police force.Did the lad get home safely?  Were his parents all right?
