Gunnersbury Park Bowls Club
The Planning Committee will make the final decision on 20 Jan. The planning application to turn the bowling green into crazy golf and the pavilion into a restaurant has already been refused once and is again recommended for refusal. This DOES NOT have to be an either/or situation. There is plenty of space in the park to put the crazy golf, perhaps on the old tennis courts, with a building next to it for the restaurant. The club has not been wound up, the green is not derelict and abandoned as has been claimed. In fact, volunteers have weeded it and mowed it. It needs urgent attention to prepare it for the start of the new season in April. Bowls can be played with Covid-safe protocols.Surely the unnecessary destruction of an existing amenity in a park should be the last thing that those who 'run' it should ever consider? Wouldn't you have thought they would be keen to enable its continued existence, adding the crazy golf elsewhere, especially when it doesn't cost them anything?
