Virginia Fassnidge RIP.. Brentford at heart.

Thank you to the Editor for this front page news of Virginia's sad passing.She lived in the heart of Brentford and seemingly from there gave her heart to Brentford too.We witnessed her helping Linda Massey so ably at the Festivals...her lovely style so ably described by the Editorial.Virginia deserves a plaque or the planting of a tree in Boston Manor Park so that her help everywhere is never forgotten.

Eric Dicker memorial tree (and plaque) is at the East end of York Road where it meets (or is separated from) Brook Lane North.It was mentioned in my Blog 286 in March 2021 (with a picture of chums from Hounslow Highways planting it). If I remember correctly the plaque arrived a few days later. can send the pic if you like but Posting here is beyond me!

Hello Sarah.I didn't join the Scout Movement at all. Yes...9th Chiswick Cubs!Eric Dicker was a popular chum at Chiswick Grammar School in the 1950s and I met him in later years around TW8.Eric was hailed locally as a fine Scout Leader.RIP.

Guy mentions in his weekly Report (see front page) that a Memorial Lunch was recently held at the Kings Arms in memory of Virginia.I suppose it's not an event to be advertised on this Forum... but I am slightly saddened not to have known about the event. Maybe it was for close friends.only.In the same vein I believe a memorial for my dear schoolfriend Eric Dicker (Scouts and more) was held by close friends ...wasn't a tree to be planted?Anyway..I think of them both from time to time and I trust they rest in peace.

As listed on the front page of this local website...a memorial gathering of friends,colleagues and admirers...is taking place tomorrow from noon in Blondin Park..to remember and celebrate the life of this dear and highly regarded local lady.

I'm sorry to not have had the chance to get to know Virginia better. We met in Ealing while discussing recycling and repairing and other important ways of creating a more sustainable world.  RIP.

I agree with all that has been said about Virginia. I knew her from Osterley, Lunches on the dock, and most morning's as she passed my house on her way some where on a mission.Maybe a tree in the park is a fitting tribute to a lovely lady.

Yes, Virginia will be sadly missed. On top of all the other things she did locally and her lovely way with people she was a regular on volunteer litter picks and acted as a mentor to at least one local person who will miss her very badly. A special person.

I can only second what you say, Jim.I met Virginia a few times and know her family,and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.She was very well liked and respected and had many strings to her bow and was a real champion of local issues.She also appeared on Only Connect,the quiz show on BBC2 a few years ago and as you say had a lovely style of interaction with people.
