Thumbs Down for Kew Bridge Station Quarter Scheme

Borough planners say the plan would be harmful to the character and appearance of the site and neighbouring conservation areas !What a joke !!

It's the sheer inconsistency.More than a few times, this rationale is dismissed by planning in far, far more sensitive areas and this sort of rationale is brushed away as insignificant when lodged by all manner of objectors, often of significant gravitas.None of it quite adds up.

It will be interesting to see what our planners come up with on the Duke of Northumberland's planning application to build on Park Rd. allotments slap in the middle of the Isleworth Riverside Conservation Area. They recommended approval last time - and it was only due to the diligence and hard work of The Isleworth Society and plot holders that councillors saw sense and rejected it, that didn't stop the Duke going to a planning inquiry which he subsequently lost, but we expect the new applicaiton to go to committee this summer. We also know that several un-minuted meetings of the Estate with the Leader of the council have been held.

I was also surprised at the grounds for its rejection. Similar objections could have been made to many of the developments started and agreed in Brentford over the last few years. eg Morrison development.

The damage already done in far more sensitive and prominent locations makes this  seem rather strange.So it's OK to ruin the St Paul's Conservation area, damage the ambience of Leyton road, stuff up the riverside at Watermans , affect the streets off Windmill Road, all with stereotype poor architecture and something tucked away with an already dominant backdrop gets this report.Makes no sense unless this developer is not one of the preferred members of the developer elite club.
