Ealing LTNs

LB of Ealing have begun to remove LTN road barriers! Hallelujah! The message finally getting through. Harrow, now Ealing. Are you listening, LBH?

I guess that being stuck in traffic at least means that you can't read the sanctimonious claptrap foisted on us by a very vocal minority who have a singular view of the world.

Yes it is odd how people caught up in traffic never consider that they themselves are the traffic.

That is very charitable.While you have the agenda driven by councillors who chant the "two wheels good, four wheels bad mantra" and who support the expansion of Heathrow it is difficult to vote for a party that imposes travel restrictions which actually increase pollution, particularly when the displaced traffic is stationery outside five schools during the rush hour.

To be charitable, Ealing Council might well feel they have the best interests of their residents in mind when they introduce measures to encourage less car use, improve air quality and help tackle the climate emergency. The dilemma is that, if asked, most residents would probably reject any such initiatives, such as not using their car or having to change it, not travelling by air, replacing their central heating, stop eating meat, and... Not many votes there.

You miss the point. The point is these Councils should be acting in the very best interests of their residents. They seemed to feel they could just impose their dictates on people without consultation. They marched into peoples' streets like the Afrika Corp erecting road blocksAs for 'it's all the nasty tory minister's fault', this is just a ridiculous excuse for the actions of a bunch of brainless little left wing car haters.

"the Labour councils' mistake was falling for it! "Unfortunately they were not just falling for it. They enthusiastically accepted this concept and were happy to implement and push it forward. They demonstrated their full concurrence and implemented it in the most proactive way.

Oaklands is a 'Special School'.Here's an extract from their site:We are determined that we will maintain and continue to improve our curriculum as we expand. Let's hope this is reflected at the ballot box'I just love the way everyone overlooks the fact that these daft LTNs were the brainchild of one Grant Shapps Tory transport minister - the Labour councils' mistake was falling for it! And consequently getting the blame.

Oaklands school sent a notice implying that their children were now in danger of dangerous cars.Kerb Drill, road sense and Stop, Look, Listen obviously not on the curriculum but brainwashing clearly is.

Conspiracy theories abound at the moment. All iI know is, the traffic on Boston Road and Northfield Avenue which had been nose-to-tail since the LTN21 was implemented, has returned to normal free flowing.In addition, the local cycling stasi have been haranguing parents at the one school within LTN21 with one particularly spiteful woman telling a child that. in effect, mummy doesn't care for you because she's anti-LTN.  The distressed mother has been spoken with and the school has closed its social media accounts.

It's been suggested that Hounslow started work on Windmill Road and is closing Swyncombe intentionally to stymie Ealing's big LTN21 scheme nearby.  I think that's why Ealing had to suspend the scheme but with the possibility of proposing some revised scheme in the future.

With roadworks closing Windmill Rd for 7 weeks and the one way system on Swyncombe  Avenue starting on Monday, sit back and watch the chaos. Ealing Park Gardens, Murray Rd are trapped in an LTN nightmare. Just hope no one needs emergency services.  All these roads get blocked by delivery vans, dust arts and crane lorries, how will traffic get out of this mess?
