How did Boris get married in a Catholic Church?

Hypocrisy starts at the top in the UK. Queenie worships in the church she is head of when in England. At Balmoral she becomes a Presbyterian, and instead of worshipping at the Episcopalian Church (Scotland's equivalent of the C of E) she worships in a church that does not recognise civil overlords - the Church of Scotland which is lead by by its elected Moderator.As a staunch monarchist Boris is merely being flexible like his head of state.

The difference is Boris renounced his Catolic faith when at Eaton so its said.

'A friend of mine who I'm sure won't mind me saying has no great wealth or political influence divorced, converted to Catholicism and then married for a second time in Catholic Church which was allowed because his first marriage was not a Catholic one.'Does that then mean that the Catholic Church regards any children from such a marriage as illegitimate?

What is particularly galling about this is the contrast to the way he treated Petronella Wyattin 2004. In her case, he also promised to leave his wife, got her pregnant then changed his mind; persuading her to have an abortion. It was lying aboutthis which got him sacked by Michael Howard.In this case it seems he was unable to bend Carrie Symonds to his will and so was forced  to marry here instead. It would be interesting to know if Boris's views on abortion have actually changed in any way.How soon his eyes will again start to wander - I'dgive it 2 years myself -is another matter michael adams

'It's just sheer hypocrisy whichever way you look at it.'How is that? A friend of mine who I'm sure won't mind me saying has no great wealth or political influence divorced, converted to Catholicism and then married for a second time in Catholic Church which was allowed because his first marriage was not a Catholic one.The notion that Boris and Carrie Johnson have received special treatment is misinformed.

It's just sheer hypocrisy whichever way you look at it. My Goddaughter raised Catholic was engaged to a divorcee and was told to go away by the Priest and find a nice Catholic single man when she tried to arrnage her wedding. She eventually married in a CoE church and had both her children christened into it too. What her great Grandmother a devout Catholic would have made of it I dread to think. It sure is one law for one and one for another, but then Johnson is true to form so we shouldn't really be surprised.

What gets me is Symonds talking about her Catholic faith. Now, I'm a very lapsed Catholic but I'm pretty sure the Church is against adultery and breaking up marriages. But then if Johnson's first two marriages never existed ...

It seems that as a child he was baptised as a Catholic. That he was confirmed CofE as a teenager doesn't seem to matter. As his previous marriages were not in the Catholic Church, it seems it can be said they never happened. So, overnight, Johnson has become an unmarried Catholic, and is free to marry the love of his life - number whichever.
