Garden recycling lorry ate my neighbours brown bin today …

The men put it on the lorry and it didn’t come back!  Recycling person followed it into the hopper but he did come back.  Poor neighbour has been going up and down the road searching for it but I suppose they don’t have a note to put in the door to say it has well and truly gone…. Next time you hear of a bin going missing it could well be a feature of the service?  Ha ha ha!

My green recycling box diappeared a few weeks ago.  I reported it and it was replaced in days.  Good service from LBH Recycling team.  Thank you

Also - as Guy will know - this business of an operative walking along the road with a paper list in his hand to see who has paid for the brown garden bin service is so sad. In neighbouring Richmond just over the road to us, they get a sticky coloured label to attach to the side of their garden bin to say they have paid, and the colour changes yearly - simples! Operatives can see at a glance who has paid for that year and who hasn't. Hounslow may catch-up one day.

Yes, We ask residents to email recycling@hounslow.gov.uk to request a replacement garden waste bin/sacks as we check the subscription and can’t just replace without checking subscription status first.Of course this could be automated but hasn't been done as yet.

Is there a reason, Guy, that the brown bin isn't included in the items you can reorder online with a few clicks?

I'm trying to establish what caused Susan's problem.We do deliver 2-3000 replacement containers of one sort or another each month and make about 500,000 collections of which generally about 500 are missed, which is way better than the industry benchmark.Nevertheless we strive for perfection :-)

I ordered a new paper box and plastics/cans box on Monday as both ours were cracked. They have arrived this morning with TWO nets for the paper!! So well done Hounslow for once.

Neighbour says his bin is on order so hopefully it will arrive quickly or he will be given temporary bags, a refund won’t work as he has a large garden and fills the bin each fortnight.  He was told that the lorry often gobbles up the garden waste bins…

And that's the problem with a lot of things in LBH. The system simply doesn't work! Thankfully Guy Lambert is here to help and push the system to get things done. But it is just massively wrong that so many things have to be done this way.

Sarah, I was twice promised that my request had been 'actioned' to no avail. In the end, I appealed to Guy Lambert, after which I had it in a few days.

Oh dear.  We have just asked for a replacement bin as the single crack down one side has been joined by another along the other side and it looks as if it could collapse at any time.  As you have paid for the service do they not rate your request?  Neighbours bin was brand new, recently replaced, after their bin split in the same way.

It took me seven weeks and lots of moaning to get my broken bin replaced so I feel for her.
