Scam warning

Call received on mobile this morning claiming to be from the 'Citizens Advice Bureau' helpdesk. They claim to have been given information that we are 'struggling with outstanding debt'! Number that they called from 0191 536 4032 - when questioned the caller hung up.

We have had an assortment of calls from ‘all sorts of’ organisations.  The funniest is the prim upper class John Cleese style male voice telling me he was from customs and excise. About our tax.  Sometimes they catch you completely off guard so it is easy to see how they can eventually get the bank details they want.  Our friend sits with a whistle and takes great delight in using it.  The calls stopped for a while as they got fed up with this, then they started up again.  The last call he had he did a John Cleese voice to them and said he was Inspector  Morse from Scotland Yard working in conjunction with their local police and he would like him and his colleagues to step away from their desks as they were in the process of raiding the building.  They stopped again after that.

I feel over the last two weeks the scams have increased considerably.

We had another lot of scammers try it on yesterday, I have to say the lnaguage from this end leaves them in no doubt we still have all our marbles!

I know someone who had a text from Santander yesterday. Sent from what looked to be a mobile. I rang it and surprise surprise unable to get through. I rang Santander and not from them. Alright for some people who know what to look for, but worry for some.

Apart from anything else there's a clue in them citing "Citizens Advice Bureau"They changed their name to Citizens Advice in 2015 so whilst you and I might still think of them as the CAB, their staff certainly don't!
