Open Invitation for Guy Fawkes night

Ridgeways have finally been driven into liquidation by the Developers, we just couldn't keep paying out High Court litigation fees!Hopefully it still isn't the end for the boatyard, with the possibility of Brentford Marine Services et al carrying on, and I shall still keep fighting the planning cause.But regardless, to celebrate 60 years of serving the marine side of Brentford life, we plan to hold a bumper bang of an evening on November 5th, with BBQ and local pyrotechniac (Keith).All welcome to come along, bring something to cook and something to explode! (And your own personal hazard insurance!)

Well done Nigel,princess Gill, top chef Peter and banger Keith.What a pleasure it is to spend time in the unique outdoor surroundings that is old Ridgeways.  It IS unique in Brentford. And what a shame to hear that money gathering opportunists and developers would like to see it all swept away. Colourful canalboats, repair dock and outhouses, lapping mudbanks, and very relaxed friendships. Only 10 yards away are stables still standing that provided shelter for the horses that used to pull the barges along the Canal.We all,don't we, want old Ridgeways to stay..and be a special place in the heart of historic Brentford?So there was no noisy music..just lots of chatter. No queues to get a drink at the bar..there was always one at hand. There was great food served by Peter who professionally looked after the griddles. How interesting to speak to someone who lives and works on a boat moored at Brentford's  Riviera..in front of the old Music Museum. Like others I much enjoyed the evening and value the friendships and memories. Thanks again Nigel..and Gill's super smile and thank you was more than I deserved!

Terrific evening, weather just perfect for it despite glum predictions. Great to have Phil and family along, perhaps the bangs were just that little extravagent for your daughter Phil, hope she'll be braver next year.Jim, thank you for the magnificent contribution to the food and combustibles, I'm glad you were able to meet and chat with a wider variety of our Brentford friends. Gilly feels she hasn't quite thanked you enough.The Butts contingent bore the inevitable puns bravely. A special thanks to Peter from Waterman's Park boaters for standing in unprompted in so splendid a fashion as chief chef. Next time I shan't warn anyone about Keith, having you all skive off by midnight in fear of his next production reveals a distinctly cowardly approach to life!

Sorry to hear about that liquidation news Nigel..what a shock..and after all your endeavours.Hopefully ..behind the scenes..there are encouraging prospects in the pipeline..(BMS et al).Thanks for the invite for the 5th Nov..I'm a YES..and hopefully they'll be a good turn out.
